67IW thermally broken casement
A 67 mm thermally broken series for high thermal and acoustic performance, with burglary class RC2. AluK recommends it for replacing old wooden and PVC windows.
Old walls are often thick, so the new frame depth and the plaster return decide how it looks inside. Ask for the frame to be set where the old timber sat, with a drained sill, and for a mock-up drawing of the reveal before fabrication starts.
Humidity and mould on the inside
Panaji’s station shows 87% humidity in July, and closed rooms hold it. Choose windows with trickle ventilation or a sash that can be left on the latch, and do not seal a bedroom shut for the season. Glass that fogs at the edge usually signals a ventilation problem, not a window fault.
Mesh and insects
Bardez has rivers, paddy and gardens, so mosquito mesh is a regular request. Casement sashes open outward need mesh on a fixed inner frame; sliding windows can take an integrated flyscreen in some series. Settle this at quote stage.
Finish for a humid coast
Salt and damp attack cheap coatings first. Ask for the coating class and the certificate for your colour, stainless screws and hinges, and check that the weep holes in the frame are open and visible before installation is signed off.
